Adorable Things Owners Did For Their Pets
Many pets lived a pretty charmed life. They get fed and loved on and don't have to worry about a whole lot because, for the most part, their owner has it covered. But some pet parents really go above and beyond in terms of caregiving. From building climbing structures and personalized beds to dressing in ridiculous costumes that amuse the pets, it's incredible the lengths some will go for their furry friend. One man carries around dogs that he doesn't even own on a little toy train for their enjoyment. Perhaps most heartwarming is to see how a dying animal was commemorated by its owner. Read on and feel your heart melt over these beloved little companions.
Bunny Scrunchies
Some puppies have spiked-up ears, and others have big, floppy ones. For these adorable little guys, it was probably a frequent occurrence that their ears would get into their food. It appears that these lucky dogs are enjoying some human soup, but it's possible that they just have watery dog food.
If humans can use hairbands to keep their hair out of their food, why shouldn't dogs be able to use them for their ears? Scrunchies were a perfect choice because they're softer. Now these canines can eat in peace.
Everyone Wins In This Sleeping Arrangement
It was just a matter of time before a mattress designer came up with this arrangement. Dogs are notorious bed hogs, but many owners can't resist keeping their beloved pet close to them at night. This solution meets everyone's needs.
A little cubby in the boxspring enables this pup to sleep under the mattress without getting squished. Now, owners can enjoy their bed space while their animal can enjoy their own space. Plus, the little pup doesn't have to be afraid because their owner is right there in the room with them.
This Owner Dressed Up For His Dog
The above photo was borrowed from a viral video that had everyone's hearts melting. An owner dressed up as his dog's favorite toy, and then surprised the dog while in the costume. The canine went ballistic.
The best part is watching the dog figure it all out. At first, he stands up with a look of surprise apparent on his face. Then, he slowly takes a few steps towards the costumed owner. Finally, the dog leaps into the owner's arms, pummels him to the floor, and proceeds to spaz out.
This Owner Dressed Up For His Cat
This owner decided to dress up as a shark, which apparently is this cat's favorite animal. The cat was just lounging in her shark bed, as usual, when all of a sudden her owner rounds the corner in this shark costume.
At first, the cat remained still, evaluating the scenario. It didn't take long for her to bolt out the door, though; they coined the term "scaredy cat" for a reason. The owner sat on the bed, a look of defeat on his face, before spotting the cat cautiously peering around the corner.
The Goat With An Identity Crisis
This adorable goat reportedly had severe social anxiety that left its owner bewildered. The precious goat is blind and has neurological issues. Her name is Polly and she was brought to a pet sanctuary at just eight weeks old.
Her owner discovered that Polly loved to be swaddled in blankets. When Polly would try to move around, the blankets would fall off. So when her owner saw this duck costume she figured it would have the soothing effect of being swaddled while enabling the goat to move around. Other costumes didn't have the same results; Polly felt her best when dressed as a duck.
No More Face Plants
It's farely common for dogs to go blind in thier older years. So when this little pooch started having trouble seeing, it wasn't too much of a surprise. What was a surprise was how often the small dog would walk right into a wall and other hard surfaces around the house.
To help her get her guiding skills back, the owners created this unique contraption. The plastic loop is fastened to the dog's collar in such a way that it's secure without being uncomfortable. As this photo shows, the canine can now move freely around the house without bumping their little face.
This Dog Can Finally Have Its Chasing Needs Met
If there's one thing that most dogs have in common, it's their shared love for playing catch. However, most owners don't have the stamina nor the patience to toss the ball to their dog's content.
That's why one owner built a machine that throws the ball for the dog. The canine loads the ball in, then steps back as the machine launches the ball down the hallway. The device also has a counter that shows how many times the ball has been thrown. When this video was shot, the film showed the counter at a whopping 10,000 throws.
Stray Dogs On A Train
Eugene Bostick decided to put his retired years to good use by building and conducting this train for stray dogs. Eugene began the work as a result of people abandoning their dogs near his home in Texas.
While Eugene and his adopted dogs have plenty of fun on his farm, he wanted to get them out and show them the town. The dog train is a perfect way to handle all the dogs without harming the 80-year-old. Reportedly, the dog train departs about once or twice a week.
That's One Bark Of A Mitzvah
Dog birthday parties have been around for probably as long as dog strollers and outfits have been. Some people think of their pets as their children, so in that context it only makes sense. But just like parents of human babies, parents of animals can sometimes take things a tad to the extreme.
In this case, an owner wanted to really commit to the bat mitzvah theme. We can't say whether the dog was turning 13 in human years or dog years, but nevertheless it was an important enough year for their owner to special order cupcakes.
A Meaningful Dedication
One of the more heartfelt things an owner did was dedicate this tennis ball bin to their late pet, Phoebe. The sign encourages passersby to help themselves to a tennis ball and potentially return the ball for other dogs to enjoy.
The deed was in honor of the owner's dog and encourages owners to live like canines do, "with unconditional love, loyalty, and happiness." Clearly Phoebe's passing left an impression on her owner, who carried on the doggy way of life by doing a nice thing for strangers.
Because Pets Get Old, Too
Another symptom of aging pets is a loss of mobility. Animals often rely on jumping to wade through the structures typical in human spaces. In this case, a doggy door that had been constructed for a young pup didn't consider when the dog would become old and less agile.
To accommodate, the owner built a ramp to help the dog get outside more easily. This same owner also constructed a similar device for their bed and for the couch so that the dog can still snuggle up without having to be lifted.
This Dog Got A Great Birthday Present
This owner got creative for their dog's birthday by creating a makeshift doggy paradise with just one item: playground balls. The owner arranged the furniture so that the rug overlapped the four "walls" (created from the surrounding furniture), producing a playpen.
The owner then dumped a surplus of colorful play balls into the space. The dog watched for a little while before leaping into area, biting on the balls, and rolling around in them, in complete joy.
This Cat Wears The Pants
In this house, it's all about the cats. The fortunate felines have an array of ledges to climb on and bounce off of all over their home. Ledges protrude from the walls around the kitchen and various living areas.
Many cats become spooked when company arrives at their house. This creative design not only gives cats a built-in playground, but it also gives them a place to go when they're scared. From above, the climbers can keep tabs on what's going on rather than leaving the room to go hide under a bed.
That's One Way To Recycle Old Computers
One owner repurposed an old Apple computer monitor to create a small dog bed. The area is perfect for this little pooch to curl up in. The design is pretty basic with a small pillow inside to add comfort.
It's worth mentioning that the owner somehow managed to remove the shell of the monitor from all of the electronics inside without breaking anything. Whoever it was that first managed to do this was likely someone who knew a thing or two about computers.
A Cool Treat Trick
A cold treat on a hot day is a great relief to humans, so this owner decided to apply the concept to their dog. By putting doggy food into a container with water and letting it freeze over, a refreshing and cooling snack can be created.
Plus, this alternative helps give the dog a little boost of hydration since they'll be consuming water as they melt the treat. It's an easy and tasty way to cool down your pet.
The Coolest Dog In Summer
This 13-year-old Labrador Retriever is enjoying an air-conditioned doggy bed. The invention was spurred by the old dog digging up flower beds so she could lay in the cool soil underneath. That's when her owner decided to create a cool place for her to lay.
The owner secured PVC wipes to a wooden frame and filled them with frozen water bottles. Small fans line the inside of the wooden frame so that air is pulled past the ice water bottles, emitting cool air below the suspended fabric. Brilliant.
This Pup Made A Wish
This photograph captured the moment after the dog blew out its birthday candle. The owner set the dog down in front of his little dessert-- a pile of dog treats-- and lit the candle on top. Rather than leaning over to blow out the candle for him, she stood back and let him try.
The dog experimented with a few soft barks before starting to get the gist of how fire works. The canine managed to blow the candle out without any help from his owner.
People United For This One Dog
Mark Woods and his dog Walnut became a news story hit when hundreds came to support the dog in his final walk. The ill pet was scheduled to be put down that week, so Mark decided to do something special for him.
Mark had planned to take Walnut on a walk at his favorite beach, and he took to social media to ask others to join him. Hundreds of people showed up to wish Walnut farewell.
This Owner Held On To His Dog
A New York law prevents large dogs from riding on the subway. The stipulation is that the dog must be kept in a bag. That didn't deter this man from stashing his large pitbull in his satchel. The adorable dog got to enjoy a ride close to his owner.
The story shows the owner's dedication to his dog. He could have just kept his furry friend at home. But, he wouldn't let anything keep them apart, not even the law.
These Dogs Can Greet Passersby
Many dogs are eager to see the people near their home, especially when they can hear or smell someone closeby on the other side of a fence. These huskies were so eager to get a peek at the people passing by that their owner made an adjustment to their yard's fence.
The owner carved two square spaces that the dogs' heads can fit through. The spots were measured to their heights so that both can look through their personalized windows comfortably.
A Perfect Doggie Door
"My baby Bailey Marie wishing the rain would stop so she can use her new dog door," a Facebook user shared. This is such an adorable door for a pooch!
Of course, you would have to leave it open for your canine to travel through, but when you want them to stay inside you can close it. It'll make them feel like a tiny human because they're used to seeing you go through similar doors of human size.
Pixar Dog
No doggo wants to have a cone around their head. In fact, no human wants that, but sometimes it has to be done. We feel sorry for any poor pet that has to endure this.
Thankfully, this dog at least completes something special with its cone. Let's just call it a Pixar pup. He or she may not be smiling, but he's serving a greater purpose. There might not be any understanding going on, but this is awesome.
The Fence Window
If you own a dog, then you know how curious those little canines can be. Any little noise they hear and they're rushing to see where it's coming from. If there's a fence in the way, then they can't see.
That's why you need to give them this fence window like this owner did. Now, they'll never miss another barking argument or cat dashing through the bushes. They may want to be over there, but looking is enough.
Helping The Pooch
Not every dog is fortunate enough to have two ears. Not every human is blessed enough to have that either, but that doesn't mean they aren't equal. This pup's owner didn't want their dog to feel left out.
A Reddit user wrote, "Vincent Van Gogh is missing an ear since his mother nibbled it off when he was a newborn. We had to slightly modify his Halloween costume." How cute is that? Sad about the ear, but great ownership.
Avengers... Assemble!
When you have a pack of Corgis, this is the best thing you can do. Dressing up the Corgi Avengers is the most awesome treat an owner can do for their dogs.
They might not save the world, but they certainly will put a smile on your face. There's even a green one for the Hulk! We're taking it that the owner is Nick Fury judging by that eye patch which makes this that much cooler. Avengers... assemble!
The Perfect Wheelchair
"My girlfriend told me, 'Hey, Benny's acting weird.’ And then I said, ‘Think I should take him to the vet?’ And sure thing, the morning right after that he just couldn’t walk," said James Paniagua.
After that, these dog owners found out it would be $8,000 to give their pooch the proper surgery. They couldn't afford that so James brainstormed a way to give Benny another way of help. He created a wheelchair that works perfectly.
Cone Of Shame Upgrade
As we've mentioned, dog cones are the last things the pooches want to have around their neck. It just isn't comfortable at all. They get in the way and prevent the dog from giving proper love to their owner.
Sadly, they're necessary sometimes. It's a good thing one can customize them like this owner did. Now this pooch is a sunflower doggo! Who wouldn't love a face like this with the flower around their head in such a beautiful way?
The Shedding Pajamas
Dogs love to sleep with their owners, but some don't allow it for various reasons. One thing they don't like is the shedding and all the hair that comes with puppy co-sleeping.
Well, the owner of these dogs made pajamas that help lessen the effects of shedding fur. That way, they can sleep in the bed! There's probably still some sort of shedding taking place and some hair around, but this way, it isn't as prevalent as it normally would be.
Doggie Netflix
"She has her own Netflix profile full of nature documentaries, and I leave them on for her when I leave the house. And yes, she does actually watch … sometimes." Reddit user alicemonster said.
When you leave your dog at the house when you go out, they miss you. It's great to give them something to occupy their minds and time. This Netflix account she made for her dog is a great idea and we're going to try it when we get home.
Pamper Your Pooch
"Instead of just cutting [his nails], I like to give my dog a full pedicure. I do it all. I make sure his nails are nice and even, and use a nail file for him. I also clean his nails with a nice little towel and then blow-dry the fur around them." Reddit user Papa_Daniel said.
That's one way to show your dog you love her or him. Why are humans the only ones that can enjoy a pedi? It's about time we start giving out pets some too!
